Weddings can be an absolute ball-ache to plan, but luckily, Adele seems to be offering a service where she covers every aspect personally, so we never have to deal with event planners again! Last week, videos and pictures of the singer officiating and singing at her friend’s wedding appeared online. Showing off her recent 7st weight loss in an Oscar de la Renta skirt, Adele blasted out her hit Rolling In The Deep to the crowd of wedding guests in a London pub. She did the favour for pals Laura Dockrill and her now-husband, The Maccabees’ guitarist Hugo White. Other notable attendees included singers Florence Welch and Jessie Ware, but Adele was the star – even telling the crowd at one point, “Expect my album in September!”
Adele also took care of the actual ceremony, officiating the nuptials between her two friends, although that is a skill she had already mastered in 2018, having played the role of officiant for Alan Carr and his husband, Paul. And she wasn’t going to let anything ruin the day, as Alan himself recently revealed. “As she was doing the vows, a lawnmower started. She was like, ‘Wait there.’ She went around and said, ‘I will mow the lawn myself tomorrow, but today it stops!’ She wanted it perfect.” Alan went on to say that after the ceremony the 31 year old flew him and his new husband to Las Vegas to see Celine Dion perform, and that she paid for everything.
Perhaps a new career as an events planner is on the cards? ■
