We hear Brooklyn Beckham’s getting hitched, and Victoria is over the moon. David? Less so
Her boy is ready to make her mother of the groom
‘Vic wants it to be a day people talk about’
She had her big day over 20 years ago, but now Victoria Beckham is in wedding planning mode again – this time for eldest son Brooklyn. We’re told that 20-year-old Brooklyn is preparing to propose to his girlfriend of five months Nicola Peltz after deciding she is “The One” and not wanting to waste any time. However, it is causing a few arguments between his parents, as dad David thinks he’s moving too fast while mum Victoria couldn’t be happier.
“After his last relationship [with model Hana Cross], which was quite volatile, Vic is just so happy that Brooklyn is with someone who she considers the perfect match,” our Beckham insider says. “Nicola is beautiful, ambitious and hardworking – Vic gets on great with her. She doesn’t think he could find anyone more perfect. Nicola comes from a very well-connected and wealthy New York family, and is exactly the type of girl Vic imagined Brooklyn marrying. She also knows that, if they do get married, it’ll be the wedding of the year – she has so many ideas.”
Brooklyn began dating Nicola, 24, last autumn and they quickly became inseparable, with the budding photographer often gushing about her on Instagram, saying she completes him and is the love of his life. We’re told he also wants to get married young like his parents, who got engaged after six months, when Victoria was 23 and David was 22. However, the insider adds that
David is concerned that things might be moving a bit fast and has clashed with Victoria about it.
“David thinks Nicola is absolutely great – but he thinks Brooklyn is still very young, and has suggested he and Nicola just be together for a few years before
they start talking engagements,” says the insider. “He would prefer Brooklyn to have his career sorted first. But Vic has pointed out how much happier Brooklyn is, and how much harder he’s been working on his photography, because he’s so much more stable. It’s caused some arguments with David. Vic thinks Brooklyn having the responsibility of a marriage would make him grow up. Nicola’s dad is a successful billionaire – she really admires him and expects Brooklyn to be equally ambitious. It’s been a huge wake-up call.”
Posh – who is also mum to Romeo, 17, Cruz, 15, and eightyear-old Harper with David – is understandably very excited about the first of her children getting hitched, whenever that may be. We’re told, “Vic knows that, as mother of the groom, she won’t have as big a role as the mother of the bride, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to sit in the background. She wants Brooklyn to have the best of everything and for it to be a wedding everyone talks about. She knows Nicola respects her as a designer, so she can give her tips and advice with the dress. And, of course, she’ll make sure she’s the most glamorous person there. She also wants an A-list guest list, and hopes Brooklyn and Nicola will involve her every step of the way.” ■
