Billie Faiers has an anniversary to celebrate!

Because giving paper as a one-year anniversary gift is SO bad for the environment

Who doesn’t love a mini-break? Getting away from it all somewhere not too far away, cutting down the carbon emissions and jet lag in favour of a hassle-free jaunt. Not Billie Faiers, apparently – the reality star seems to have taken the idea of a local hol and run halfway across the world with it. Last week, Billie and husband Greg Shepherd jetted off on a three-day jaunt to the Maldives to celebrate their first wedding anniversary – one year after getting married in the very same spot. And the whirlwind vacay was an Instagram-storied paradise.

We don’t need to remind you that Billie, 30, and Greg, 33 – who are parents to Nelly, five, and two-year-old Arthur – staged the wedding to end all weddings in March 2019, flying 95 friends and family to the luxury resort of Kuramathi in the Maldives for a week-long holi-rave. The do hit the headlines before half the guests had even left Gatwick airport, after fellow passengers on their outbound flight complained of “drunk, noisy and rude” behaviour on board. Then, holidaymakers staying in the same resort said that Billie and Greg’s guests had behaved like “drunken yobs” all week. Judging by the happy couple’s snaps, however, their anniversary celebrations were far more tempered. “Best anniversary surprise everrr,” Billie wrote on Insta, claiming that Greg had kept her in the dark until departure – even though she’d already revealed to a magazine last month that his 30th birthday gift to her was a trip to the Maldives. She then got busy flaunting their holiday. Together, they covered all bases: swimming in crystal-clear waters, riding jet-skis and tucking into a floating breakfast. Billie thanked her long-time partner for obliging her by taking “300 shots” of her sitting poolside, labelling him #husbandofinstagram.

It’s certainly been a big year of long-haul mini-breaks for Billie. Last month, she went on another surprise trip – this time to New York – with mum Suzie and sister Samantha Faiers to celebrate her 30th birthday. But while some fans have loved seeing snapshots of all the jet-setting, others have slammed the star for the non-stop luxury travel. Last week, one follower wrote, “You’d think she’d be a bit more considerate about the planet rather than flying 5,000 miles for a weekend break”, while another wrote, “What a long way to go for some Insta-likes.” But we’re sure that Billie and Greg remained distinctly unfussed. Or, to paraphrase one of Billie’s famous lines, “Please, honey, are we not even allowed to go away for OTT mini-breaks these days?” n
