Katy Perry’s pregnant – and she likes it
The singer is expecting a baby
Clearly not content with the usual boring old Instagram post, Katy Perry decided to announce to the world that she was pregnant via her very own music video. That’s one way to get your foetus into showbiz before it’s even met its own parents.
The video for her new song, Never Worn White, sees the 35 year old cradling her tummy in a bridal-esque white gown, as well as in a more risqué sheer number, which really showed off her growing bump.
She also confirmed the exciting news on her Twitter, writing, “OMG so glad I don’t have to suck it in anymore… or carry around a big purse lol.” While the singer – who is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom – hasn’t said exactly when the baby is due, she did tell fans, “It’s gonna be a jam-packed summer” – hinting that we won’t have to wait long to meet the baby.
Katy and Orlando have been together since 2016. They had a brief hiatus in 2017, before getting back together five months later – and got engaged on Valentine’s Day last year. Orlando, 43, already has a nine-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, but this will be his first child with Katy.
Speaking to fans on Instagram Live after releasing her new single, Katy revealed her joy at the happy news, saying, “I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy — and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music.”
The singer also joked about the food cravings she’s experienced, explaining that she now carries Tabasco sauce around with her, and that she’s been “eating the same burrito for weeks on end”.
And a baby may not be the only upcoming changes in Katy and Orlando’s lives, as her new single strongly hints that they may be getting married soon. In the song, Katy sings, “I’ve never worn white, but I’m standing here tonight, cos I really wanna say, ‘I do…’”
