Obie Pearl, founder of alternativ­e fitness company Play Tone, which offers exercise classes with a focus on fun, says, “Skating improves fitness, especially cardio developmen­t, muscle strength and lung capacity. One hour on skates burns as many calories as running, while strengthen­ing your leg muscles and connecting tissues. As a result, skating can improve your performanc­e, fitness, and calorie burning rate in other types of sports. The average person burns around 600 calories per hour.”

WHERE CAN I LEARN?
