When a rumoured romance was born
“There can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don’t believe in you, but all it takes is one,” said Lady Gaga – about 99 times – during the promotional trail for A Star Is Born, as she waxed lyrical about her director and co-star Bradley Cooper. Yes, in case you don’t remember, Lady Gaga was pretty smitten with Mr Cooper, and the feeling was definitely mutual. The on-screen lovers kept us guessing for months if they were more than work buddies, from the moment they arrived here at the Venice Film Festival holding hands to six months later, when they gave that Oscars performance. They have since said that they were just pretending, and that they “wanted people to believe that we were in love”. Well, it looked pretty convincing to us.
