Channel 4’s international crime strand returns to bring us this German serial-killer thriller. At first, the story seems to be over before it’s begun, when Maximillian Rapp confesses to 23 brutal murders. Cue much relief among the public. Detective Tara Schöll, however, knows better, because something isn’t right. She notices that there are missing fingerprints, not to mention that Rapp may actually have an valid alibi for one of the 23 cases. Tara and her colleague-slash-love interest Henry Kloss come to suspect that Rapp is innocent of at least three of the murders to which he confessed. And then their investigation takes an unexpected turn, when Rapp warns them that another killing is on the horizon. HHHH Jason Arnopp
