Sarah Harding remains positive after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis

The Girls Aloud singer reveals shock cancer diagnosis

-

Messages of support came flooding in for Sarah Harding last week, after the singer revealed she has cancer. Taking to Instagram and Twitter, Sarah, 38, said she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, and had been given the “devastating news” a few weeks ago that it has now spread to other parts of her body. She added that she’s currently undergoing chemotherapy and is “fighting as hard as I possibly can.”

The former Girls Aloud singer has been quiet over the past few years, ever since winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2017. After Girls Aloud split, she continued to make a name for herself with appearances on Coronation Street, The Jump and Celebrity Masterchef.

Last week, she resurfaced on social media to reveal her sad news, posting a picture of herself from her hospital bed and telling fans, “I’ve not posted on here for so long, thank you to everyone who has reached out to check in on me. It really does mean a lot.” She added, “There’s no easy way to say this and actually it doesn’t even feel real writing this,” before explaining she’d decided to share her diagnosis after someone had spotted her in hospital. She also thanked her “amazing mum, family and close friends” for supporting her, as well as the “wonderful NHS doctors and nurses who have been and continue to be heroes.” Sarah ended her message by telling fans, “I’m doing my very best to keep positive and will keep you updated here with how I’m getting on.”

Immediately, friends and fans voiced their support. Former Steps singer Ian “H” Watkins told her, “Stay strong. We’re all behind you,” and Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown wrote, “Sending so much love to you.” Sarah’s former bandmates also rallied round her. Nadine Coyle wrote, “I love you!!! You have always been able to achieve miracles when needed!! I am here for you all the way and always will be.” Cheryl tweeted a broken heart emoji, while Kimberley Walsh said, “You are so strong and brave and we are with you every step of the way.” Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts spoke for all of Sarah’s fans when she told her, “It goes without saying that this is blindsiding. You’re so loved and supported.” n
