Posh has got fans in a froth for using the kids to promote her new lippies – and David’s not happy

Have Brand Beckham taken things too far?

They started out as a t wosome, but over the past two decades, Posh and Becks have grown Brand Beckham to truly ginormous proportions. And, these days, it’s not just David and Victoria Beckham’s four kids – Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and Harper, nine – repping the brand, it’s also Brooklyn’s fiancé Nicola Peltz and Romeo’s girlfriend Mia Regan fueling the beast. Clearly, everyone has a role to play.

But last week, Victoria faced a wave of criticism, after calling on her various squad members to promote the newest addition to her VB make-up range, Posh Lipstick – with fans slamming her decision to “use” her kids to peddle her products. And according to insiders, it’s not just Vic’s followers who are questioning her choices – David’s also not so thrilled, and has discussed it with his wife.

“David has always been more wary about the kids being in the spotlight,” says an insider close to the Beckhams, who have sparked debate in the past over their decision to live a very public life, with all the kids standing in the spotlight. “He believes they need to be careful about crossing a line. It’s OK for them to wear their parents’ lines sometimes – Romeo posted a picture of himself wearing a pair of DB Eyewear sunglasses last week – but he’s not sure about it being so constant and getting the boys’ girlfriends in on it, too.”

Last month, VB sent fans into a frenzy when she announced, “Posh is back”, and revealing she was releasing a range of lipsticks inspired by her former Spice Girl moniker. But it wasn’t just the 46 year old doing a cheeky bit of self-promo: Brooklyn and Nicola both shared the news with their millions of followers on Instagram, with Brooklyn applying

the lipstick to his fiancé in the clip, while Romeo, Mia and Cruz also shared Insta-stories pushing the brand. Harper chipped in, too, posing for a pic wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “Posh is Back” and flashing Victoria’s Spice Girls peace sign, which her mum later posted online.

But while some fans were thrilled with the news, others slammed the star for “pushing her kids in front of the cameras”. One commented, “Shame the parents didn’t put their education before their moneygrabbing,” while another added, “This family are always looking for another story in the paper.” A third added, “She and her family have sold their souls for fame and fortune.” According to our source, David – who’s known for taking a more cautious stance with the kids being in public, and is less keen for them to pursue starry careers – feels that Victoria is taking things too far, and that she is starting to manage her family like Kris Jenner. But, we’re told, as far as Vic’s concerned, they’re all working for the same cause.

“David knows there is no one more passionate and hardworking than Vic, but when he saw the kids’ posts, he wasn’t impressed,” says our source. “He thinks this is her using the kids’ relationships for sales, like Kris Jenner does with the Kardashians, and it invites so much negativity. But in Vic’s mind, she’s just making the most of her brand-building skills.

“She sees everyone as part of the family, including Nicola and Mia. She argues they’re all willing participants – after all, they’re the next generation of Brand Beckham.” n
