Coleen’s fury over Wayne’s latest own goal

He’s ballsed it up again – but will he ever learn?

-

He’s been in the doghouse so many times, he’s practically moved in. And last week, Wayne Rooney got himself into yet another mess after revealing he’d been forced to self-isolate following a house call from a friend who was delivering a designer watch – and who just happened to have coronavirus, but didn’t yet know it. Wayne later tested negative for the virus, but government guidelines meant he still had to quarantine at home for 14 days and miss playing vital games for Derby County – something the club’s bosses weren’t too thrilled about. And they weren’t the only ones. According to insiders, Coleen Rooney couldn’t quite believe that her footie star husband has ballsed things up yet again, especially at a time when all eyes are on their family. And she’s now been left wondering whether she’ll spend the rest of her days hitting her head against a brick wall.

“Wayne tested negative, but there’s still the fear he could be carrying the virus,” says an insider close to the footballer, who landed himself in hot water after letting his friend Josh Bardsley, 21, into his home. Josh, whose brother is Wayne’s footie friend Phil Bardsley, had dropped in on Wayne, 34, to present him with a freebie luxury watch – despite having been contacted by Track and Trace and told to stay inside. A later test showed that Josh had actually been Covid-positive at the time. “Wayne is trying to deflect the story by saying how angry he is that his mate came into his home, but the reality is that Tier 2 restrictions were already in place and Wayne shouldn’t have been letting anyone in,” the source continues. “It’s an embarrassment for the Rooneys – Coleen’s asked him so many times to be careful and stop making it seem like he’s ‘above the rules’. It’s always something with him, and she feels like his nagging mother a lot of the time.”

As heat has told you, Coleen’s been under an immense amount of pressure over the past few months, as she knuckles down and makes final preparations for her big court showdown with Rebekah Vardy – Rebekah is suing her for defamation after Col accused her Instagram account of leaking fake stories about her, which Becky denies. Clearly, the last thing she needs is extra scrutiny, but according to sources, Coleen feels like the striker just isn’t playing ball. Instead, he’s continually landing himself

in it, and the big problem is that he’s always got an excuse.

“Coleen really is fuming – as if she doesn’t have enough on her plate,” says our source. “When she asked

‘It’s got her really feeling under pressure’

Wayne why he’d let Josh in, he said that he hadn’t, but that Josh had just ‘popped over’. It infuriates her that he doesn’t think these things through and makes them look bad, which means she has to take on the extra responsibility. It’s got her really feeling under pressure. Plus, it’s affecting his job now, too, so she’s exasperated with it all.”

Earlier this month, we told you that Wayne was already back in the doghouse, having got drunk and made an ill-timed joke about their sex life to strangers at a showbiz party. And back in April, he was reportedly given a ticking off by police after he was spotted on a walk with footballer Kyle Walker during the height of lockdown restrictions. Now, we’re told that this latest fiasco hasn’t helped matters – and with Wayne still not being totally behind Coleen’s decision to face Rebekah in court, the couple are “at loggerheads and having a lot of heated conversations”.

Best call in the doghouse decorators, Wayne, because you might be in there for a while. ■
