‘I love that my nipples look like cigarette butts’

If you’d told Kate Lawler a year ago she’d be welcoming a baby girl into her life, she might not have believed you. But, last week, the former Big Brother star gave birth to a daughter, after years of saying she was unsure if she wanted kids on her podcast Maybe Baby.

The 40 year old and her fiancé Martin (known as Boj) decided to try last year, and were delighted when they found out they were expecting right away. Kate has been keen to share her journey on her social media, but fans will also get an insight into the highs and lows of pregnancy on MTV’S upcoming show Celebrity Bumps: Famous And Pregnant. Along with five other couples, Kate and Boj will share what it has been like going through this emotional experience during a pandemic.

Speaking to heat shortly before she gave birth to baby Noa, Kate told us how she’d loved being able to share everything with friends, family and followers online. “They wouldn’t have been able to see anything otherwise,” she said. “So many of them live in different cities or even countries. I’ve loved sharing it, although my dad told me I’ve been oversharing… he doesn’t want to know all the gory details.”

At one point towards the end of her pregnancy, Kate spoke about how she’d embraced the changes in her body on her podcast. “It’s the biggest I’ve been, and I love it. I even love my massive areolas and the fact my nipples look like cigarette butts –I do love it.” We’re sure her dad loved hearing that. Kate shared videos of the day she gave birth, telling fans Noa arrived on 11 February via “abdominal birth” (caesarean). After being taken to intensive care due to breathing problems, Noa was allowed home a few days later. Kate thanked friends and family for their gifts and messages of love, and admitted, “I’ve cried lots today, but I know it’s normal to feel overwhelmed with a mixture of emotions. If you’re a new mum and feeling the same, you’re definitely not alone.”
