THE PLOT In the 23rd century, a colony of humans lives on an alien planet, where only males are left alive, and your thoughts can be heard by everyone else. When Viola (Ridley) crash-lands there, the equilibrium is shaken – especially for young Todd (Holland). WHAT’S RIGHT WITH IT? Star Wars’ Rey plus Spider-man in a dystopian sci-fi from The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman – we like the sound of these ingredients! WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT? Story-wise, it’s really just an elaborate chase movie, and David Oyelowo is stuck in a rather ludicrous unhinged preacher role. VERDICT This adaptation of Patrick Ness novel The Knife Of Never Letting Go doesn’t quite match its ambition.
