When The Backstreet Boys were our fire, our one desire
Honestly, if you don’t look at this picture and immediately start singing “Backstreet’s back, alright!”, then there must be something wrong with you. The year was 1999, and there was nothing more attractive than a five-piece boy band in matching sports jerseys. Sure, *NSYNC had the superior dance moves (and Justin Timberlake’s frosted curls), but there was something about Nick, Howie, AJ, Brian and Kevin, and their heavenly harmonies, that just clinched the deal for us, ensuring we’d forever be #Teambackstreet.
The group have certainly had their ups and downs since then, including a six-year stretch where Kevin quit the band entirely, but – remarkably – the Boys are still going strong (despite now being decidedly more middle-aged than, well, boys). And as far as we’re concerned, they’re still, “Original (yeah), the only one (yeah) and sexual (yeah)…”
