Whatever Pete Davidson has, it’s really working for him. After dating a string of high-profile female celebs, the US comedian is now apparently hooking up with Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor. And while rumour has it that Pete flew over to the UK to spend time with the 25-year-old actress, it seems her mum, Corrie star Sally, isn’t too happy about the new romance. “Phoebe is already mortified about her family seeing her racy scenes on Bridgerton, and now she’s having to deal with the added embarrassment of her mum knowing all about her new relationship,” an insider tells heat. “Any parent is curious about who their child is dating and, unfortunately for Phoebe, all Sally had to do is a quick Google search – which has obviously raised a few red flags, because of Pete’s colourful dating life. Sally’s slightly concerned about how fast he seems to move on to new partners.”
Pete, 27, was engaged to singer Ariana Grande back in 2018, but they split after a four-month engagement, after which the Saturday Night Live star had a fling with Kate Beckinsale, who was 20 years his senior. He then had brief relationships with high-profile celebrity offspring – actress Margaret Qualley, whose mum is Andie Macdowell, and Kaia Gerber, who is the daughter of model Cindy Crawford.
“Sally just wants to make sure that if something serious is going on, then Pete doesn’t end up hurting Phoebe,” our source says. “He has talked openly about struggling with drug use, and has been to rehab twice, which would be a worry for any mum. She’s also worried about Phoebe getting too distracted just as her career is starting. She really feels she should concentrate on her acting, rather than getting into a showbiz romance.”
The source adds, “Ultimately Sal knows Phoebe needs to make her own choices, and she wouldn’t dream of standing in her way – it’s just shocked her and she’s hoping that Phoebe and Pete are just friends.” n
