Aidan Turner takes on the role of Da Vinci

Poldark’s back! Well, sort of. Poldark’s Aidan Turner stars as Leonardo da Vinci in this new eight-part drama set in Renaissance Italy. We’ll see how Leonardo grew into an unparalleled genius whose work overturned the established order, and who removed his shirt at every available opportunity. OK, so we’re not 100 per cent sure about that last part, but we trust the scriptwriters to seize every available excuse to get Aidan’s top off – perhaps if he spills paint over himself? The strong cast also includes Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor), Giancarlo Giannini (Family Novel) and James D’arcy (Homeland).
