When Coleen ruled the races

She’s known far and wide (OK, all over Liverpool) as the Queen of Aintree, having attended the annual event almost every year since she made her first big appearance there in 2006, back when she was still Coleen Mcloughlin. So, by the time that Mrs Rooney rocked up to the Grand National in 2012, she was its mainstay star. But this time was extra-special, of course, because she had her and Wayne’s two-year-old son Kai with her.

Nine years – and three more boys – later, Coleen’s appearances have been more sporadic. She missed the event in 2019 and then, of course, COVID put the kibosh on last year’s race. This year’s will be another with no guests in attendance, but we live in hope that 2022 will be the year that the WAG queen returns, in a massive hat and 9in heels.
