Makeup: A Glamorous History BBC2, Tuesday 20 April, 9pm
This three-parter tells the story of cosmetics and their usage in history. In this opening episode, professional make-up artist Lisa Eldridge explores the high-society Georgians, who loved to peacock around, showing off just how rich they were. And with the help of pharmacist Szu Cheng Wong, Eldridge recreates the era’s toxic white face paint, which in some cases proved fatal.
