CHLOE: ‘I LOVE PLAYING THE VILLAIN’

Celebs Go Dating has helped her grow

-

She’s dated a few Jack the Lads in her time – including a fling with footballer Jack Grealish and a romance with former Love Island winner Jack Fincham – so it’s no surprise that TOWIE star Chloe Brockett, 21, has some walls up when it comes to meeting new men. But speaking to heat about her appearance on Celebs Go Dating, she says she’s learning to let go of her tough-as-nails “Chloe B” persona… How do you find watching yourself on TV? Weird. Before I watched my first date, I was like, “I was so good, I asked so many questions.” And then I saw it and I was like, “I’m literally mute.” Everyone was like, “Oh my God, you’re so rude.” And I’m there thinking, “Oh God, maybe I was!” You’ve spoken about your Chloe B persona – do you feel pressure to play the part? Yeah. With TOWIE, we’re always ourselves – but come on, the show is all about drama. If I just sat there being lovely all the time, it would be boring. I love playing the villain, I love having arguments. But going onto CGD being my TOWIE self wasn’t going to work. Realising I had to be myself was really hard for me. I’d never done that before – I suppose you hide behind a mask a lot of the time. But I now feel a lot more confident in myself – it’s definitely helped me grow. How do you feel about online commenters weighing in? I find it bizarre that people think they know me. You’ll get someone called Trisha from Blackpool going, “Oh,

Brockett’s at it again”, and I’m just like, “You don’t know me, Trish.” It gets to me when I’m already not feeling great about myself. Say, I wake up feeling awful, thinking I look disgusting, and then I read a comment saying, “You look disgusting.” I’m just like, “Thanks, so much.” I think you’re always going to listen to the nasty comments. There could be 100 nice ones, but one nasty comment will take its toll. Being in the public eye, is it hard to trust guys? I think so. Sometimes I’m envious of my friends’ relationships. W hen they deal with a break-up, they go through it privately – whereas in the public eye, you’ve got the press saying you’ve broken up, speculating why, and then you find out who they’re dating next. Like when my ex Jack Fincham started dating Frankie Sims, I found out about it in the papers – that’s always going to be harder. But then, the benefits I get from being on TV outweigh the negatives.
