It feels like we’ve been waiting an age to watch Pam And Tommy – ever since the first pictures emerged last year of an unrecognisable Lily James wearing that red swimsuit. But, while we’re all delighted to finally be feasting our eyes on it this week, there’s someone who definitely won’t be tuning in – and that’s the woman whose life the whole thing is based on.
It’s no secret that Pamela Anderson has been horrified at the prospect of the mini series, which tells the infamous story of how she and ex-husband Tommy Lee’s private sex tape was sold and commercialised without their permission in 1995. Indeed, she’s refused to have any involvement and has ignored all attempts to reach out to her by the show makers, as well as Lily James. Now, we’re told, she’s making it clear – through as many third parties as possible – just how unhappy she is with the situation. “Pamela has said from day one that this show is an assault on her privacy, and she’ll be damned if she’s going to pretend otherwise,” says an insider close to the 54 year old, who’s always said she’s never made any money from the sex tape’s release. “To her, it’s a tacky representation of her life that’s been put together by people who don’t have a clue about what went on. People keep asking her what she thinks about it, and she’s not holding back.”
But while Pamela’s lambasting the show behind closed doors, she’s letting her friends make her feelings known in public. Like BFF Courtney Love, who’s previously said that the making of the show is, “So f**king outrageous,” adding, “Shame on Lily James, whoever the f**k she is.” ■
