Young Wallander: Killer’s Shadow

When this show arrived on Netflix in September 2020, some viewers were confused by the fact that this “pre-imagining” had the same modern-day setting as the original series starring Kenneth Branagh. As the six-part season two begins, we find the titular detective and police inspector unsure of his future, after his exit from the police force. When new superintendent Samuel Osei joins the force, though, Wallander is given the chance to rejoin the Major Crimes Unit. Having been handed a seemingly straightforward case – a hit-and-run outside a nightclub – he finds a connection to an old murder case and soon disappears down a conspiracy rabbit hole. ★★★★
