TAKE YOURSELF ON A DATE

-

How many times have you missed out on something because you felt you needed someone to go with? Often, we think we can only do things if we have a plus one, but actually, developing the confidence to go on solo dates can be really fulfilling. Michelle says, “Getting used to spending time on your own teaches you the difference between being alone and being lonely. The first time you might need to bring a book, but once you realise that people aren’t looking at you, you can focus on what you’re doing. ‘How am I enjoying my food? What do I think about this painting I’m looking at?’” Here are some things to try on a solo date…

1 Book dinner for one in a restaurant you’ve always wanted to go to. And limit your phone time, so you’re not using it as a distraction.

2 Look for a class or club that you’d like to try. You will be forced to socialise with the other people and make new connections.

3 Be a tourist. Visit a museum or gallery that you’ve never been to before. Enjoy that you can explore it at your own pace.

4 Book a hotel room for one. Use the time to read a book, have a long, indulgent bath or pad around in the spa.
