escribed as “genrebending”, Amazon’s six-episode mini-series introduces us to single father Gary (Josh Gad, Beauty And The Beast), who lives in Adelaide with his 11-year-old daughter Emma. Still emotionally traumatised by the death of Emma’s mum Lisa seven years ago, the pair are involved in a road accident with Mary (Isla Fisher, Wedding Crashers), an isolated advice columnist who’s recovering from her own complex emotional baggage. Despite connecting with both Gary and Emma, Mary tries to keep her distance from them, for fear of hurting them. And when Mary says “hurting” them, she means that in a very physical sense, because she is a werewolf who has to be locked inside her basement on every full moon. Marvellous. ★★★★
