Naomi: ‘No one knew I was having a baby’
The model opens up about having her daughter at 51
She announced she had become a mum nine months ago, but not much else was known about Naomi Campbell’s secret baby. But last week, the supermodel finally spoke out about her new addition, confirming her daughter isn’t adopted and revealing that hardly anyone even knew she was on the way.
“She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child,” the star told Vogue, posing in a stunning photo shoot with the tot. She refused to answer further questions about her little girl, with the baby’s name and biological dad still a mystery, but she did admit to keeping her pregnancy a closely guarded secret. Naomi – who is single after dating rapper Skepta in 2018 – continued, “I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her. But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
Naomi shocked and delighted fans last May when she announced the birth at the age of 51, tweeting, “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother. So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life.”
It was particularly surprising since she’d made an appearance on the runway at New York Fashion Week just weeks before, looking decidedly not pregnant, leading to speculation she’d used a surrogate. ■
