There were a few shows that defined our pandemic experience: the discovery of hidden gem Schitt’s Creek was one, and the Netflix sensation Tiger King was another. TK told the bonkers story of eccentric big-cat enthusiast Joe Exotic and his long-standing feud with animal-rights activist Carole Baskin, who he accused of killing her husband and feeding him to her big cats, before trying to hire someone to murder her himself. The stranger-than-fiction series was jaw-dropping, compelling, and made unlikely stars of its subjects. Now, two years on, Peacock are hoping that interest hasn’t waned as it presents a fictionalised version of events with Saturday Night Live’s Kate Mckinnon taking on the role of leopard-print loving Carole, and John Cameron Mitchell channelling Joe Exotic.
