JESY WARNED OVER DRUG DEALER EX
Her friends are worried
‘She doesn’t need distractions’
She may have sung, “I love bad boys for life…” but Jesy Nelson’s nearest and dearest are really hoping this isn’t true IRL. Last week, the singer’s chequered dating life hit the headlines again, after it was revealed that, last year, she’d had a brief fling with model Aaron Gage – who’d previously been convicted for drug dealing (he was sentenced to two years in prison in 2018, which was suspended for 18 months). Sources say that Jesy had no idea about Aaron’s previous run-in with the law at the time, but that hasn’t stopped her friends from worrying that she’s heading down a dodgy path to distract herself from career stress.
“Some members of Jesy’s team are worried about her getting involved with someone like Aaron,” says an insider close to the former Little Mix star, 30, who left the band in December 2020 to prioritise her mental health, and is expected to drop her long-awaited debut album this year. “She has so much work ahead of her this year and she really doesn’t need any distractions, but Jesy’s so scared about her solo career flopping. Her friends fear she’s burying her head in the sand and distracting herself by being drawn into toxic romances that might end in disaster.” ■
She hasn’t had the best of luck in love, so we all had our fingers crossed that Ferne Mccann had finally found a good one in new boyfriend Lorri Haines. But last month the businessman sparked concern, after a video emerged in which he appeared to be holding a bag of suspicious white powder. Lorri denied taking drugs, saying he was just “joking around”, but that didn’t stop the alarm bells ringing in Ferne’s inner circle – especially as she’s refusing to listen to friends who are telling her to walk away.
“Ferne feels massively embarrassed by the whole situation,” says an insider close to the 31 year old, who was apparently blindsided by the video, but believes Lorri when he says he wasn’t taking drugs. “She says it’s a big misunderstanding.” Last month, the reality star – who’s mum to four-year-old Sunday – took to Instagram to sing the praises of her latest romance, writing, “Never give up on love,” before telling Lorri, “Thank you for showing me what a meaningful relationship looks like… Thank you for showing me true love. I love you.” According to our source, Ferne is fully invested in making the relationship work, despite the recent setback. “Her friends are begging her to just admit that he’s not the man she thought he was,” we’re told. “But it seems like she’s in denial. She’s saying she’s come too far in the relationship to simply walk away.” ■
