SHOPPING TIPS

-

1

Always try before you buy, as fabric, sizes and styles differ so much between shops. Yes, it can seem like a mission, but there is little to no standardisation when it comes to sizing on the high street and online. And don’t worry about the size label – all brands fit differently and it’s better to get the look and feel right than sticking rigidly to a set size. (I have everything from size 10 to 16 in my wardrobe.)

2

Your jeans should be super-snug when you first buy them (almost to the point of not being able to do them up), as they’ll stretch naturally as you wear them. You also need to allow for the fabric to mould to your shape, so you won’t be constantly pulling them up or dealing with saggy knees! The fabric should give you enough room to accommodate your shape, while also sculpting your figure.

3

Darker colours are a fail-safe option and will flatter your bottom half if that’s an area you’re conscious of.

4

Remember your silhouette and what you want to emphasise. And don’t be afraid to show off your figure – it’s always going to be more flattering.

5

Can’t find the right length? Improvise. If your jeans are too long, simply add a turn up or cut the hem. If they’re too short, let the hem down for an unfinished look.
