Movie version of the hit Broadway musical starring Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect and The Politician) as an anxious high schooler who lets the family of a deceased classmate believe they were best friends. And, pretty soon, his lie gets out of hand. Yes, Platt is more than a little too old to be playing a teenager (he’s 28), but there are still plenty of moving moments and the story shines a light on teen mental health. ★★★
