THE PLOT Twelve-year-old Adam (Scobell) is surprised when the 40year-old version of himself (Reynolds) crash-lands from the year 2050. Turns out older Adam has headed back from the future to prevent their father (Ruffalo) from inventing the timetravel technology that has become a blight on society. WHAT’S RIGHT/WRONG WITH IT? With the giddily enjoyable Free Guy, Reynolds fronted one of 2021’s rare hits that was an original idea and not based on an existing property – and here he re-teams with that film’s director, Shawn Levy. Can lightning strike twice? VERDICT We like the idea of Reynolds bantering with a tween version of himself – just a shame that reviews are embargoed by Netflix until after our publication date.
