The Simpler Life
Channel 4, Tuesday 22 March, 9.15pm
This fascinating new six-part docu sets out to establish whether modern life is bad for us, by following British people as they live by the rules of an Amish community, which ignores the majority of modern values. The project involves 24 contributors, including a social media content creator, a Norfolk rapper, a former soldier, twin brothers from
London, and a gay couple – one of whom is an NHS head of nursing operations – with their two adopted children. All of these people will live alongside an Amish family of five from Ohio on a 40-acre farm, which boasts a lake and a wood, but no phones, technology, gas or mains electricity. Will they be happier? There’s literally only one way to find out. ★★★★
