The original and arguably still the best version of the Masterchef franchise is back and there are new twists to the format. Each week for five weeks, nine home cooks will compete across three programmes (including a double-bill on Friday), and their first test is an Audition Round in which the best three cooks can secure their place in the competition, but instead of judges John and Gregg watching them cook in the Masterchef kitchen, they’ll taste each dish in the new Tasting Room. In the second ep, the remaining contestants have to invent a dish on the spot from ingredients including monkfish, quail and lamb. ★★★★
