Bella: ‘I wish I had kept my old nose’

The supermodel has finally admitted to surgery

-

We all made questionable choices as teenagers, but not all of them were quite as permanent as Bella Hadid’s. Last week, the supermodel spoke out about her decision to have a nose job at the age of 14, saying she now regrets that choice.

“I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” the 25 year old said in an interview with Vogue, after previously denying ever having cosmetic surgery, adding, “I think I would have grown into it.” She also admitted comparing herself to big sister Gigi, 26, saying, “I was the uglier sister. I was the brunette. I wasn’t as cool as Gigi, not as outgoing.” She then went on to say she’d had “insecurities, anxiety, depression, body image issues [and] eating issues”.

Speaking more about her anorexia, Bella explained, “I’d pack my little lunch with my three raspberries, my celery stick. I was just trying, I realise now, to feel in control of myself when I felt so out of control of everything else.” The comments were met with sadness from fans, who rushed to offer their sympathy, but many also expressed outrage at Bella’s mother. One wrote, “Yolanda is something else – I knew Bella got a nose job, but I didn’t know it was that young,” while another commented, “Getting Bella a nose job at 14, Yolanda is a terrible mother.”

Others re-shared 2012 footage of the family on The Real Housewives, where Yolanda, now 58, discourages her teens from playing volleyball, because it could make them “big and bulky”. In another scene, she scolds, “You gotta get back on your diet because, you know, in Paris and Milan, they like the girls just a tad on the skinny side.” It’s not the best messaging to give your kids, is it? ■
