Heartstopper
NETFLIX, FRIDAY 22 APRIL
Back in 2016, Alice Oseman self-published a YA webcomic called Heartstopper, about a teenager called Charlie who falls head-over-heels in love with a fellow student and player in the school rugby team, Nick.
The LGBTQ romance was then published in graphic novel form, and soon became a word-of-mouth phenomenon. Now, it’s being brought to television as an eight-part drama with Oseman writing the series herself. Joe Locke plays smart, nerdy, gay Charlie, who’s bowled over when he bonds with seemingly straight classmate Nick (Kit Connor), which causes ructions with each other’s tight-knit friendship groups. It’s aimed at younger viewers, so don’t go expecting Euphoriastyle outrageousness.
