FANS FEAR FOR JESSICA after ‘odd’ Insta vid
The star appears to slur her words in an ad
In November 2021, Jessica Simpson proudly told fans she was four years sober after admitting she had struggled with alcoholism. But last week, there were fresh fears for the US star after she posted a sponsored Instagram video in which she seemed erratic and spaced out. Promoting an allergy relief product, Jessica seemed awkward and fidgety and could be seen reading from cue cards. Worried for her health, fans rushed to the comments to express their concerns. “Oh my God, her commercial was awful; she slurs her words and she’s reading cue cards. Something is up with her.
It was so odd,” one wrote, while another said to the 41 year old, “Hope you are OK, you seem to be on something, definitely odd behaviour.” One fan wrote sadly, “I miss the old Jessica”.
This isn’t the first time Jessica’s 5.5m Instagram followers have expressed their worries. In another recent #ad, one commented, “What happened to her voice? She sounds so different – is she OK?” Many fans have described the singer’s speech as “slurred”. Back in November, Jessica shared an image of herself from 2017 she described as “unrecognisable”. In an emotional caption, the mother-of-three wrote, “I knew in this moment
I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self-respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity. Personally, to do this, I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and, quite honestly, I was exhausted. I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honour. I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward – never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.”
Celebrating four years of sobriety at the time, she told her followers that
“drinking wasn’t the issue. I was. I didn’t love myself”. Jessica – who shares daughters Maxwell, nine, and Birdie, three, and son Ace, eight, with husband Eric Johnson – recently shared with her followers that she’d been on a health kick. Alongside a beaming bikini selfie, she admitted she’d “gained and lost 100lbs” three times after having her kids, and credited her weight loss to “hard work, determination, self love”. ■
