Thandiwe Newton and Ol Parker always seemed like the rare exception to Hollywood’s pervasive relationship curse. But sadly, after 24 years of marriage, insiders have told heat that their relationship has ended, amid reports the actress is struggling to cope after a dramatic on-set bust-up with her Magic Mike 3 co-stars.
US sources were the first to break the news that Thandiwe had allegedly split from screenwriter and director Ol, 52, who she married in 1998. It was claimed the Line Of Duty actress had been “acting strange” and was “very highly strung” on the set of Magic Mike 3 after struggling with the break-up. It was also reported that she had moved her two pet rabbits into her hotel room for “emotional support”. And – after only eleven days of shooting on location in London – it’s claimed she had a “unimaginably vicious” row with co-star Channing Tatum. Set insiders also alleged she had fired the UK agent she’s worked with for three decades, with her US agent flying over from LA to negotiate her exit. A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed the actress had left the film “to deal with family matters”, with insiders revealing that her starring role had been given to Salma Hayek.
The 49-year-old star, who shares children Nico, Ripley and Booker with Ol, concerned fans further with a picture she posted on Instagram of some lingerie, embroidered with the words: “Do we hate our women?” – a line from Tupac Shakur’s Keep Ya Head Up. She quickly deleted the post, sharing instead an old photo of herself with the caption, “Getting back to Life.” Many of her followers wished her well, with one writing, “Get the help you need and forgive, take accountability, reconcile, move forward in peace and love!” Another added, “I do hope you are OK”, as a third wrote, “Be well, Queen.”
And behind the scenes, those working for the actress are thought to be hoping she will get help and some mental health support. ■
