KEIRA KNIGHTLEY JULES
The period drama queen was only 16 years old when she was cast as Jules Paxton, a sassy tomboy with big plans to make it as a professional female footballer.
She was already a name to watch, having appeared in the likes of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Disney’s Princess Of Thieves, as well as cult teen horror film The Hole.
She has said she was worried about taking the role, admitting later, “I remember telling friends I was doing this girls’ soccer movie... And nobody thought that it was gonna be any good.” But critics warmed to her portrayal of Jules, who was much less posh and much more relatable than her other characters (*cough* “I look quite pretty”).
Now 37 and with two children from her marriage to Klaxons’ musician James Righton, Keira’s gained worldwide recognition – plus several awards – thanks to parts in Love Actually, Pride And Prejudice and the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.
