The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration

As a massive fan of the Queen, this previewer is very excited about the Platinum Jubilee, and this live, two-and-a-halfhour show hosted by Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham. Set in the grounds of Windsor Castle it is a celebration of Her Maj reaching the epic milestone of reigning for 70 years – longer than any other British monarch in history. And, as you’d imagine, it promises to be a suitably lavish televisual feast with a fun and eclectic mix of contributors – where else would you see Tom Cruise and Alan Titchmarsh in the same line-up? Alas, they’re not duetting, but there are musical performances from the likes of Keala Settle, Gregory Porter and Katherine Jenkins. There is also a spectacular theatrical whistle-stop tour through history to look forward to, from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I through to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Cruise, Titch, Damian Lewis and Adjoa Andoh will host each act, before it culminates in a grand finale. Plus, there are appearances from Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ant & Dec, Dame Joan Collins, Sir Mo Farah, Dame Maureen Lipman, Sir David Jason, Dame Kelly Holmes, Moira Stuart and Sir Trevor Mcdonald.
