Tokyo Vice

Renowned action director Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral ) directed the pilot of this tough new crime thriller, which launches tonight with a double bill, before Starzplay settles down to deliver one new episode every Sunday. “Loosely” inspired by the book of the same name by US journalist Jake Adelstein, which detailed his own account of life on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, Tokyo Vice has been filmed in location in Japan. The main character is Adelstein himself (Ansel Elgort, Baby Driver), who walks the streets in the late ’90s and finds himself on a dark descent. The pretty solid cast also features Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai), Rinko Kikuchi (Babel ), Rachel Keller (Fargo) and Ella Rumpf (Succession).
