All New Laughs ★★★★
DAVE, TUESDAY 23 – FRIDAY 26, 10PM
Here’s a great thing from the Dave channel: a series of four one-off comedy pilots featuring up-andcoming young talent, airing one per night from Tuesday to Friday. First up is The Other Half, written by Kate Reid and Zak Ghazi-torbati, executive produced by Romesh Ranganathan, and starring Vahid Gold (Newark, Newark) as closeted, mixed heritage 20-something Navid. Then on Wednesday, there’s Dead Canny, with Loose Women’s Denise Welch alongside Mark Benton and Fraser Ayres. It’s about a young psychic, played by newcomer Sarah Balfour, who can see dead people and ends up the prime suspect in a murder enquiry. On Thursday, it’s Holier Than Thou, about three young adults as they navigate sex, faith, and relationships, while attending an African evangelical church. It stars newcomers Princess Khumalo, Tomi Ogbaro and Jordan Williams. Finally, there’s Perfect, which is set in Liverpool, and follows three young disabled people who become friends when they meet on a pointless work-preparation scheme. Together, they face the daily challenges of life in a system that seems designed to only benefit the people who run it. It stars George Robinson, Shreya M Patel, Wills Whittington, and Tanya Moodie.
