This two-part docu looks at the investigation of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher. In November 2007, Meredith’s bloodied body was found under a duvet on her bedroom floor in a small student flat in the medieval Italian city of Perugia. The media soon ran frenzied coverage of Meredith’s murder, focusing on people of interest like Amanda Knox – who crassly became known as “Foxy Knoxy” in tabloid circles – the American student whose strange behaviour kept the media gripped. Then there was Raffaele Sollecito, the introvert who was supposedly madly in love with Knox, and who would do anything for her; and local bar owner Patrick Lumumba, whose name suddenly appeared in Knox’s apparent confession-of-sorts to Italian police. The whole thing would lead to some of the most controversial legal wrangling in recent memory. Over the course of eight years, three strongly contested trials only prolonged the media circus and the Kercher family’s suffering.
