Kwame: ‘I SAID NO TO SEX SO OUR MARRIAGE WOULD WORK’

Kwame Badu spills all on his relationship

- MAFS UK is on E4 every Monday to Thursday from 9pm

Are they getting down to it?

Is it weird re-living your experience on Married At First Sight UK by watching the show back?

One hundred per cent. Overall, I like to think it’s been pretty positive, but there are certain things that I say and do that make me cringe. Like not pouring a drink for your wife Kasia at the first dinner party?

I have no explanation for that. I like to think that I’m a gentleman, especially because I have two daughters, so I have no excuse. Since you’re a father yourself, were you pleased that Kasia is also a parent?

I actually requested to have someone with children because they would have a better appreciation of what I’m going through. Kasia would understand if I turned up a little bit late to a date because something was going on at school. It’s also important for me to be with someone who is good with kids. Other than her being a mother, what’s your favourite thing about Kasia?

The fact that it was so easy to live with her. We had this great harmony as a couple when we first moved in, and the apartment truly felt like a marital home. It helps that she’s an incredible cook. What was the biggest hurdle that you had to overcome?

Being in such a controlled environment was really tricky. In a normal

relationship, you’re able to get some space from each other and get advice from friends and family, but that just wasn’t possible. The two of you seemed to be coming from different places with regards to intimacy…

I was really conscious that I wanted to really get to know Kasia as a person first, because sometimes having sex straight away can be detrimental to a long-term relationship. That’s not to say that I wasn’t attracted to Kasia – she’s a gorgeous, strong, confident woman – but I really wanted things to work between us, so decided to take it slow. ■
