The world’s most festive diva has officially declared it Mariah season – and while fans are thrilled, an insider tells heat that her team aren’t quite so joyous.
Posting on Instagram, Mariah Carey, 52, kissed goodbye to spooky season with her classic combo of a sexy Santa costume and a whistle note. ‘Tis the season! And just like the Grinch, the singer is ready to steal Christmas with her upcoming holiday concerts – accompanied by a long list of demands.
First in line to face the festive wrath of Mariah is her team. “Mariah is a great entertainer, but she’s about as demanding as they come,” our insider reveals, adding that the star expects to be pampered “from the moment she wakes until her head hits the pillow”.
We’re told, “When she’s touring, she wants crates of her favourite Champagne served in crystal flutes, gourmet chefs preparing all her meals, plus mineral water and healthy snacks. Her dressing room must be furnished in all white, and she has an army of assistants doing everything for her. It’s always a production when Mariah decides to do anything, and she’s driving everyone crazy already.”

I Want For Christmas Is You singer thinks of herself as “the undisputed Queen of Christmas”, but a title like that doesn’t come easy. “She puts a lot of pressure on herself to stay ahead of new artists and imposters who are vying for her crown,” says the source. “Plus, of course, there are the same old rivals she always has to fend off, like Michael Bublé and Dolly Parton.”
“It’s classic Mariah,” adds the source. “Nobody signs up to work for her without knowing what they’re in for, but she’s taking it to extremes. The sooner the holidays are over, the better for these poor souls – all they want for Christmas is for her to calm down and give them a break.”
But if anyone has a right to be a diva, it’s Mariah, and as she once said herself, “I’m high-maintenance, because I deserve to be.” We hear ya, girl. ■
