In the glimpses of their life that they showed us on Gogglebox, Denise Van Outen and Eddie Boxshall seemed like a great couple, so fans were shocked when they announced that they were splitting up earlier this year. The separation became increasingly messy, with both parties slamming each other in public – but Denise has claimed that she wouldn’t change anything about their relationship breakdown.
The star, who is now dating property developer Jimmy Barba, said, “Obviously, those things weren’t nice to go through, but where I’m at now with Jimmy, who has such a good energy, everything was worth it. Honestly, I feel like I’m in a nice, happy, good place. I wouldn’t change anything.”
The actress and presenter also revealed that the experience had brought her back in touch with old friends, including Fearne Cotton and the band All Saints
– who introduced her to Jimmy, 55. Denise continued, “I reconnected with a lot of close friends. They reached out to me, which is lovely... Everything that happened took all my friendships to another level.”
Denise and Eddie, 48, confirmed their split in January this year, after Denise discovered that Eddie had been sexting another woman behind her back. The couple – who were set up by TV presenter Zoe Hardman – had been together for seven years, and moved in together in 2019. The pair were planning to marry in 2021, before COVID delayed their nuptials.
Denise moved on from her heartbreak with new fella Jimmy, and the couple made their red-carpet debut at the British Grand Prix in June, after numerous secret dates in Denise’s kitchen in order to avoid being spotted. Sneaky! ■
