ABOUT NOEL & SARA’S SPLIT

BACKBEAT, THE WORD IS ON THE STREET THAT THE FIRE IN THEIR HEARTS IS OUT…

-

Noel Gallagher and Sara Macdonald have announced they are getting divorced after 22 years together. The former Oasis singer, 55, and his publicist wife, 51, got married in 2011, having first met back in 2000. They have two children together – Donovan, 15, and Sonny, 12 – and Noel is also father to 22-year-old Anaïs from his previous relationship with Meg Matthews. A spokesperson said, “Noel and Sara will together continue to look after their children who remain their priority.”

The marriage breakdown is said to be partly down to Noel’s excessive partying, which isn’t all that surprising given his reputation as a moody rock star. The pair first met in a club in Ibiza after which Sara left her number on a card for the singer. He has previously said he kept hold of it “like it was a religious f**cking artefact”. They hit it off immediately, but say their romance didn’t start properly until Noel and Meg separated. The pair later got married in 2011 in the New Forest, with bagpipes and rock playing side by side in a nod to Sara’s Scottish heritage. But it seems the music can’t play on forever, and Noel has reportedly moved to London after packing his bags and leaving the family’s Hampshire mansion.

The Wonderwall singer is no stranger to falling out with loved ones, either. Noel and his brother Liam have been in a famous, long-term feud since Oasis split up in 2009. Liam wasn’t invited to Sara and Noel’s wedding, and he hasn’t met his niece and nephew. Liam previously said, “He goes on about how he wasn’t invited to my wedding. Get over it, mate. I’ve not been invited to his wedding.” No hard feelings there, then…

Over the years, it’s been speculated that Sara and Liam didn’t get on, so news of the divorce has therefore prompted fresh rumours that Oasis 2.0 could be on the cards, though we won’t hold our breath… n
