Their 2021 reunion and lavish nuptials the following year seemed like a fairy tale, but married life hasn’t quite been a dream come true for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Less than one year in and we’re told the pair have been consulting a therapist to help rekindle the spark.
Despite plenty of cosy red-carpet pictures and gushing interviews, an insider tells heat that, with both of them rushed off their feet with work and family commitments, they’ve not had much time for each other. “When they first got back together, it was electric between them, but now that the honeymoon period has faded, J-LO is taking it personally and feels like she has to shake them out of this funk,” we’re told. “There’s not a chance she’s just going to sit back and hope things get better on their own. She believes in therapy and she’s not too proud to ask for help from an expert.”
The 53 year old has opened up before about how therapy has helped her, admitting that in previous relationships, “I was doing these things… that didn’t seem like I was loving myself, but I didn’t even understand the concept of it. It took time. It’s a journey and it’s still a journey for me.”
And now it seems it’s a journey she’s going to take Ben along on. While the actor has been happily talking about his wife on TV – including a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, in which he revealed that the pair went skinny dipping together on their last holiday – our source says he’s going to have to get on board with Jen’s wishes. “Ben’s clearly been doing everything he can to show Jen how much he loves her, but she can’t help but see this as a challenge they need to work on – and get through – together, as a couple.
“She can’t quite see that this intensity isn’t necessarily helpful when it comes to working on their relationship. But if Ben wants a happy wife, he’s going to have to go with her wishes and see a love doctor with her.”
