‘WHEN MY KIDS ARGUE IT’S LIKE AN EPISODE OF TOWIE’

The dancer and presenter on family and a being momager

-

When he’s not throwing shapes onstage with his brother Ashley, Jordan Banjo is most likely to be found in the Kiss Radio studios hosting the weekday breakfast show with his BFF and fellow Diversity star Perri Kiely.

Never one to slow down, Jordan, 31 – who is dad to son Cassius, five, daughter Mayowa, four, and baby boy Atreus, ten months – is also currently preparing for his future career as a momager.

Here, he chats to heat about how his daughter’s propensity for fake tears could see her end up on TOWIE…

Are you and Perri really best friends?

I think I have to be his best friend to tolerate him. He’s like a Labrador puppy – a bit all over the place. That’s handy, considering you work together all the time…

I’m currently working with

Nestlé for their new campaign combining classic ice-cream flavours and sweet treats, and he was genuinely hurt that he wasn’t involved. Who’s the best celeb you’ve had on the Kiss Breakfast Show?

That’s tough! Gordon

Ramsay was great, as we had such a laugh. Then, two months later, we were at his restaurant and he pulled up a chair and sat down. It was the most surreal thing ever. You’ve known Perri for over 15 years through Diversity. Do you ever get worried that you’ll be too old to do a backflip?

The older I’ve got, the harder I’ve found it to bounce back, and our current tour definitely feels like the hardest yet. Over the years, I’ve had three surgeries on one knee, and two on the other. I’ve also broken both ankles, plus hands, wrists, shoulder surgery – everything. If I don’t look

after myself, I’ll definitely get to a stage where I can’t do it any more, but I’ve still got a few more years in me. How many of those injuries were onstage?

Most of them! Are your two eldest, Cassius and Mayowa, showing any dancing prowess?

They have the rhythm of a desk lamp. Cass doesn’t like dancing, he just wants to play football. Mimi does take classes at the Diversity studio, but she’s more into her acting. She loves pretending to be upset. You’re going to become a momager…

Like my mum! Our mum’s our manager, so she watches every single show and can be brutal.

She’s like one of the mums on Dance Moms. Do Cassius and Mayowa get along?

They’re either the best of friends or they’re at each other’s throats. Their arguments are like watching an episode of TOWIE, because they both have Essex accents. Cass sounds like Gemma Collins! Part of me is trying to break it up, part of me wants to get the popcorn. ■

Jordan has partnered with Nestlé to celebrate the remix of classic treats Aero, Munchies, Milky Bar and Rowntree’s Randoms with nostalgic icecream flavours
