Plan set to transform lochside guest house

A FORMER lochside guest house in Tarbet could be brought back to life.

Plans have been submitted by Gordon Harrison on behalf of Chris Connel to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to refurbish and re-open Lochview Guest House, which is just off the A83.

The C-listed site has been closed for several years but its new owners hope to transform it into holiday accommodation once again.

The former buildings attached to the guest house were last used as a post office, shop and tearoom, and are proposed to be turned into holiday lets.

A supporting statement, which can be viewed publicly on the local authority’s website, stated that the guest house will need

external work but the garden will remain untouched.

It states: “The property known as Lochview Guest House has been unused for a few years now but previously was a successful guest house / Holiday Let Accommodation business.

“The building is Category

‘C’ Listed but in a poor state of repair.

“Our clients have recently purchased the property with a view to reopening the guest house and converting the attached buildings, formerly the post office and the tearoom, into additional holiday accommodation.

“The garden ground will be left in its natural state to be enjoyed by guests and the buildings will be comprehensively renovated on a like-for-like basis to secure the future use and fabric of the listed building.

“Some minor external alterations will be required to comply with current technical standards such as a new door opening in the rear elevation for escape purposes and a small dormer to the east of the old tearoom building.

“These have been carefully considered and have been kept to an absolute minimum to create a quality suite of tourist accommodation units while investing in a well-known local Listed Building.”
