Three full nights of midwinter dreams

- Tristan Stewart-Robertson

THREE full houses in Helensburgh have enjoyed the dramatic talents of local school pupils as they put on a performance of one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays.

Lomond School pupils put on the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream from January 2628, showing off the dedication of their drama department.

The timeless tale of love, magic and mischief was brought to life with 22 pupils transporting their audiences into the classic Shakespearean comedy.

Dr Natalie Roncone, drama teacher at the school, said: “I am incredibly proud of our actors and their dedication to bringing

A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life. The Submarine Centre provided a unique and captivating setting, and the students embraced the challenge with passion and creativity.

“Their hard work and commitment has truly paid off, and it’s heartening to see the positive impact of the arts on our school community.”

The school’s music and drama department focuses on co-curricular activities, with a drama club, various choirs, school orchestra, traditional music group, the clarsach and saxophone ensembles and jazz group.

Claire Chisholm, Lomond School’s principal, said: “This was an extraordinary performance.

“I’ve witnessed several adaptations of this play to date and the cast nailed it.

“Shakespeare is not easy to read or perform but it was done so beautifully. It was a terrific performance.

“Lomond School remains dedicated to nurturing the artistic talents of its students and providing the community with exceptional cultural experiences.

“The success of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a testament to the school’s commitment to excellence in both education and the arts.”
