A HELENSBURGH parent and toddler group is encouraging families with little ones to come along to their new series of sessions.

Fun First is continuing to provide sessions for preschool children and their parents with groups every day in Helensburgh, Cardross, Garelochead, and Rosneath.

The group offers free activities for families with children aged zero to five to help develop children’s communication and motor skills and improve their life skills and social connections.

A spokesperson said: “All sessions are popular, in particular Mondays in Helensburgh Library and Fitness sessions at the Victoria Halls.

“This year’s fitness sessions are supported by a generous grant from Argyll and Bute Council’s Supporting Communities Fund.

“In November all our leaders and committee members participated in First Aid for Mental Health training which proved to be extremely useful.

“We would highly recommend it to other organisations.”

In March, Fun First will be taking part in training with Under the Trees Outdoor Learning from

Falkirk, which will enable the charity’s team to run outdoor sessions for parents and children.

The spokesperson added: “We hope to start regular outdoor sessions, initially in Helensburgh, to prepare children for the outdoor and forest school activities they will experience in both early learning settings and when they start school.

“We also hope this will further encourage young families to

spend more time outside enjoying everything our beautiful area has to offer.”

The group also hold Fun First Friends sessions which are suitable for expectant parents and families new to the area and are held fortnightly in the Drumfork Centre’s family room.

During the sessions, speakers are invited to give short presentations, refreshments are provided, children can use the soft play area, and relevant support and information is shared.

Entry is by donation with no need to book spaces beforehand.

The group’s regular sessions are as follows.

Monday: Baby and toddler funtime session, 10am at Helensburgh Library.

Monday: 10am at St Modan’s Church Hall in Rosneath.

Tuesday: 0-5 years funtime session, 1.30pm at Cardross Library.

Wednesday: 0-5 years funtime session, 10am at the Gibson Hall in Garelochhead. Followed by Stay and Play.

Thursday: Fitness for 18 months to 5 years, 10am at the Victoria Halls, Helensburgh.
