A CHARITY for carers in the Helensburgh area has voiced its delight at the “amazing” support for a fund-raising event at the weekend.

Centre 81 in Garelochhead was the venue for an afternoon of cupcake decorating, glitter tattoos, themed games, a bouncy castle, a raffle, and of course those afternoon teas, on Sunday, April 14.

The Helensburgh Toy shop also attended the event to provide games like ‘tin can alley’ and ‘fish in the bowl’.

The event was held to support the work of Helensburgh and Lomond Carers, which provides free information, support and advice to the small army of unpaid carers looking after family members and friends across the local area.

The event raised £315 for the charity and saw a kind donation of Edinburgh Zoo tickets which will be raffled off on charity’s Facebook page.

The raffle on the day was also a huge success with local businesses including Monty’s Farm

Park, Erika’s Cakes and Treats, Argyll Dance Company, Cherry Mactavish, the Arrochar Chippy and even the Edinburgh Dungeon all making donations.

In a statement online, a spokesperson said: “WOW! what an amazing turn-out for our Mad-Hatters Fundraiser,

“Thank you to all who came and gave us their support.

“We managed to raise £315 on the day and were also kindly gifted a late donation of Edinburgh zoo tickets, so keep an eye out as we will be raffling those off on our Facebook page soon.

“We would really just like to thank Centre 81 Garelochhead for the amazing venue and support they gave.

“We would also like to thank all our home-bakers, raffle prize givers and also our amazing volunteers, who without their help, the day could not have been made possible.”
