Mindfulness Meanders

-

The Friends of Geilston invite you to join mindfulness expert Wendy Alexander in the lovely tranquil Geilston Garden for a series of mindful meanders in the garden throughout the season.

Participants in Wendy’s session last season expressed an interest in a regular event so the Friends have set up a Monthly Mindfulness Meander on the second Wednesday of each month through until October.

Whilst coming each month would be a wonderful opportunity to tune into seasonal progressions, each session is complete in itself.

The events are suitable for adults only and cost £5. The next event takes place on Wednesday, June 12 from 1-2pm.

Normal NTS garden entry fees apply, which means entry is free to NTS members. See nts.org.uk for details of entry fees and NTS membership.

U3A science talk

The science group at the University of the Third Age (U3A) in Helensburgh is hosting a presentation by Dr Paul Blackburn on ‘molecular medicine and how it is changing modern healthcare’.

After completing a degree from the University of Edinburgh in medical microbiology and a PhD in infectious diseases, Dr Blackburn held a research position between CRUK and Glasgow University.. He then held various commercial positions leading to technical developments with scientific applications.

His presentation will explore the new technologies that are allowing the analysis of microenvironments in the body at the molecular level. These recent advances have significantly strengthened our capacity to identify and validate biological markers and discover potential new drugs.

The talk takes place at Helensburgh Parish Church’s halls complex at 11am on
